Notes

A study for the fourth painting in the series of seven canvases illustrating 'The Story of St George' for the dining room of the artist Myles Birket Foster, at Witley, Surrey.

The study on the left is for the attendant immediately following the Princess, and has the same pose as the first attendant, but with differences of drapery and the head turned more to the right. The original oil painting of 1866-67 is now in the Collection of Lord Lloyd Webber.

Purchased and presented by subscribers, 1903.
