This and the previous study are for a figure of Psyche for the story of 'Cupid & Psyche' from William Morris' 'The Earthly Paradise'. She is in the same pose as in 1927P648.16, a trial illustration for 'Cupid & Psyche'. The pose is reminiscent of Jean-Auguste Dominique Ingres's 'La Source'. See also 1904P124, a study for 'Psyche arising from Cupid's Bed'.
