Notes

The use of mock currency to advertise a product or service was an innovative idea that is still used today. This particular specimen is a mock 100 note issued in 1826 by M.Elmore, a perfumerer and hair cutter of Bull Street, Birmingham. It promises to pay the holder 100 if not delighted with Mr Elmore's efforts!
The reverse shows that at some time in the past the note had been pasted into a scrapbook as a keepsake.

Presented by D Freeman, 1929.
