Vinca was home to some of the earliest farmers in Europe.They grew wheat for making bread and kept domesticated animals, especially pigs. The latter were probably left to forage for themselves in local woodland. Despite being farmers these people still exploited many natural resources as this fish hook demonstrates. They lived in small houses made out of wood and clay.
