Horse riders wear spurs on their boots to make their horse go faster. This one is very large and may have been ceremonial or made to show off the maker's skill, rather than for use. This decorative spur has a very large rowel of 20 spikes. A member of staff from the City Engineer and Surveyor's Department found it in a sewer at Snow Hill.
