Artist:Maurice de Vlaminck - View biography for Maurice de Vlaminck

This watercolour, painted with the vigour of the Fauves, shows the personal expressionism that the Vlaminck developed. He who was also a racing cyclist and a violinist, is above all a countryman and his dramatic use of blue fills the picture with a sense of the power and tragedy in nature.

Presented by the Friends of Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, 1950.
