Date:1887 - 1890

Maker Information

Artist:Sir Edward Burne-Jones - View biography for Sir Edward Burne-Jones

Notes

Burne-Jones's inscription is incorrect regarding the page reference in Viollet. He presumably means the colour plate facing page 27 'Aumoniere du Tresor de Troyes'. The study on the left is from volume 3, page 16, figure 2. The other two studies are of peasants' breeches of the 13th century and are from Viollet volume 3, page 78, figures 7b and 7c.

Presented by Mrs Angela Thirkell, 1952.
