Tags like this recorded the name, age and other details about the deceased during and after the mummification process.They were tied onto the mummy to aid identification when it moved from the embalmers to the house, where it may have remained for some time, and then to the tomb. This example is written in the demotic script, the latest and most cursive form of hieroglyphic writing.
