Notes | One of the more unusual crafts practised in Birmingham in the late 19th century was that of enamelling coins and making them into items of jewellery. This brooch, which has been made from an 1852 silver rupee of Burma, was probably made by the greatest exponent of the craft, Edwin Steele, who died in 1891. | Purchase, F E Goldie Collection. |
