Notes

Thomas Fattorini Ltd produced this badge to commemorate the Pageant of Birmingham, which took place at Aston Park between the 11th and 16th July of that year. The event was a successful attempt to tell the long story of Birmingham from its humble origin right up to its position as the 'hub of industrial England', and then to its final status as a city in its own right. The scenes of the pageant involved many of Birmingham's citizens as actors or extras. Each scene had a theme, such as the 'Granting of the Market Charter' or 'The Priestley Riots', the finale was titled 'Modern and Industrial Birmingham'.This is an example of the diverse range of commemorative, membership and novelty badges produced by Thomas Fattorini.

Transferred from Birmingham Reference Library.
