This piece was originally purchased as a gift for Alice Beale, the Lady Mayoress of Birmingham.Fouquet's work was shown in London at The New Gallery in 1898, although the piece is said to have been purchased in Paris. Like many pieces of Victorian jewellery the piece is adaptable, and can be worn as a brooch or necklace.The design exists in the collection of the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris.
