Saturday February 1st 1941'Today on leaving work I thought I'd make a pencil sketch of the trees on Bournville Lane. I was doing this when I was asked many questions by some more than inquisitive man and later just as I was about to board a bus another man asked me if I'd mind 'missing this one' as he wanted to have a talk with me. I found out by a question that 'sketching on the lane was to be the subject and that a policeman was supposed to be on the way - also to have a talk with me I presumed. The conductor of the bus was now getting 'ratty' and telling the chap that I was getting on this bus. I did so but I gave him my name and where I worked in response to his request for my name and address'. An extract from the diaries of Frank Taylor Lockwood.

Presented by Arthur Lockwood and Jean Barnsby.
