Notes | These spoons were commissioned by the Scottish Gallery in 1999 along with the work of nine other silversmiths as part of an exhibition called 'Collection 2000'. Each spoon was hand forged from a bar of Britannia silver, purer than the standard 'sterling silver'. They were inlaid with fine silver, the purest form of silver, and 18 carat gold, and finished with a combination of machine and hand polishing. They are hallmarked with the Millenium Mark, '2000' within a cross, this was used by all four British Assay Offices for year 1999-2000 hallmarks. | Contemporary Art Society Special Collection Scheme |
