Tambourines can be found throughout churches in Jamaica. Members of the church congregation to accompany songs. Skilful players can make the tambourine sound like a drum. It is a pulsating sound that is created by the user hold the tambourine in one hand and beat it against the free hand with plenty of passion.

Collected through Heritage Lottery Fund funded fieldwork; from the Mt Sinai Sacred Heart Zion Church of God, 2005.
