From a bound volume containing 86 studies for illustrations to 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris' 'The Earthly Paradise'.

The design of this drawing is nearer to the final wood engraving, although the door here has elaborate hinges which do not appear in the woodcut. The large heap of grain and seed is also omitted, and the window is lower than it appears in the print.

Bequeathed by James Richardson Holliday, 1927.
