Notes

This medal commemorates both the City's Centenary and the Birmingham Numismatic Society's silver jubilee and reminds us that Birmingham is known as the 'birthplace of modern coinage'.The Birmingham Numismatic Society held its first meeting in the Summer Row premises of Format Coin & Medal Co. one evening in May 1964. The members met fortnightly, with the intention of promoting as informally as possible the study of coins, medals and tokens locally, nationally and world-wide. They also produced a quarterly magazine called 'Cartwheel'.

Presented by Birmingham Numismatic Society.
